Our bodies sends us messages daily. Often times we fail to listen and then when we finally do…we’re burnt out! There are daily essential we have to do in order to keep our bodies up and running. Think of your body a business that operates three hundred sixty five days of the year never closing, no holidays/weekends or winter/spring/summer breaks off…just up and running all the time and that’s a lot of work. Now that we’ve had a different look at our bodies very important job…lets focus on the key essentials for daily living.
You are what you eat and this is very true. If you’re not eating the right type of foods on a regular and usually reaching for fast foods…you’re not getting the popular nutrition. Yes it’s easy to eat the wrong type of foods often, because yes life happens and with people’s busy schedules fast food is convenient. Trust me…I totally understand, but ever just feel tired all the time? Well it could be your body’s way of sending a message that your diet is allwrong. The wrong type of foods usually makes us tired. Ever eat and then afterwards get really tired and sleepy? Not eating properly usually causes this. Food is suppose to energize our bodies. It’s like fuel for the body. You don’t fill your gas tank up and then the car runs slows right? Well keep in mind that if your food is making you sluggish and tired it’s the wrong type of fuel. Try to incorporate more whole foods like fruits, vegetables and less meat into your diets. Remember we are breaking traditions on this journey and yes that means changing old habits that we’ve become accustomed too.
I discussed the importance of water in a previous blog (feel free to go back and read it), but yes the fact that it’s being mentioned again should show the importance of it. It’s vital for organs and muscles to function properly…our bodies are a twenty four (24) hour operationso system, so treat it well! Remembering that an adult body is more than fifty percent (50%) water…more depending on the body type. Try to drink at least half your body weight in water daily. I know it’s challenging to put the sweet drinks down, but your body will thank you for doing so.
Getting Required Sleep
This is one that I’m truly working on. I rarely get the proper amount of sleep and that’s not good for a body that functions daily without closing. It’s recommended that we get at least eight hours of sleep regularly for our bodies to function more effectively. When we’re well rested…we not only look better, but we feel better and our immune system is stronger which helps us to fight off the common colds. Rest as much as possible and try to get the daily amount of sleep to keep your machine (the body) running well.
I’m not saying run out to your nearest gym and get a membership, because I’ve never been into the gym scene. Now, if you can go to the gym and workout effectively that’s great and by all means please do so. Many people find the gym to be motivational…while others opt for different ways to stay fit. Besides going to the gym there are other ways to get fit. Walking is a great source of exercise. I walk a lot and daily. Try walking up the stairs instead of using the elevator, or going on long walks especially on nice days when the weather permits. Jogging is another great way of exercising, so going to the gym isn’t the only way to stay fit. Bike riding and rolling skating also qualify as exercise. Several things that get you up and active can qualify as exercise. If you have a gym membership and don’t use it…ask a family member or friend to go work out with you. Working out with loved ones is not only inspirational, but all parties involved are doing a great thing for their overall health!
These were just some basic key essentials that help to keep us functioning day to day and the more you put into taking care of your body the better it will work. We only get one body, so treat it as your temple and enjoy the benefits of your hard work. Hope this reading was help and gave you some good tips. Until next time…
