The Many Benefits of Water…

We left off with trying to keep the moisture balance for hair care right and learning our hair types, which products are best for moisture, and overall…how to properly get the right moisture balance, but moisture comes from within. Keeping are bodies hydrated is vital not just for proper moisture balance in our hair and skin, but for our overall well being too! The benefits of water are endless and it’s something that all living things need…ALL, so yes water is kind of a big deal. I think if more of us realized how important water is all for our overall health, it would be chosen over all the popular beverages out there regularly.

Water makes up about sixty percent (60%) of the adult body…that means that more than half of your body is water. Of that percentage our main organs like the heart and brain are desperately depending on water which says a lot about why we need to consume it often, daily, and regularly.  It’s always been said that eight (8) glasses a day is sufficient, but keeping in mind that not all bodies are created equal, so with that being said…a person’s water intake should be based on that person’s total weight. Ex…if you weight 135lbs then your water consumption should be at least HALF of YOUR total body weight. Does that mean that you may take in more or less than the daily requirement of eight (8) glasses per day??? Sure it could mean that! Because, if your body weight is more…why would eight (8) glasses be sufficient for your body type??? Yes, many will probably need more than the daily requirement to help their bodies function more properly and to keep it as healthy as possible. Keeping in mind that just like not all hair types are alike and not every product will work for everyone…the same goes for our bodies.

Proper water intake will help rid the body of waste which means less weight to carry around. While not only does consuming water helps to remove waste, but it removes toxins from the body as well. It’s not only moisturizing for our hair, skin, and to supply our vital organs with much needed water, but it helps to keep joints and muscles properly hydrated. I for one never looked at water as being “liquid gold”, but after researching and paying attention to how well my body responds to it, I see why drinking water is the first step in having a healthy mind and body. I hope some of these benefits will help you to reach for water more frequently and to look at it in an entire different perspective in the future. Remember our goals are to live as healthy as possible and to learn new things along the way while on this journey. Until next time…
